Bio

Hello!

This is my fifth year to teach at San Augustine High School and I am thrilled to be here! I 9th Grade Honors/ GL World Geography, 10th Grade Honors World History, and 12th Grade Forensic Science. I am also the Student Council Sponsor, and Interact Club Sponsor.

I am originally from Austin, Texas where I graduated from Austin High School. After 18 years I was ready to get away, so I chose to attend college at Stephen F. Austin State University. I graduated from SFASU with a BA in Liberal Studies and Multidisciplinary Programs. I am currently working on my second degree from SFASU, a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in ESL/ Bilingual Education.

While in college I spent a lot of time volunteering with a local children's ministry, Glory Gang. It is through this volunteer work that I discovered my desire to work with kids. I consider myself truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to do this at San Augustine High School.

I enjoy watching college football, baseball and softball. I come from a family of coaches and played softball for 13 years myself, so I have a very competitive nature. Although I graduated from SFA, I will always be a Longhorn fan! Yes, even when their record is less than stellar. My favorite baseball team is the Astros, and no I'm not a bandwagon fan. I supported the Astros when their colors were red and black!

Outside of school I enjoy reading, working in my yard, and spending time with my dogs Sadie and Dakota. I do not have any children of my own, so they are my children. We frequent the trails of Nacogdoches and take trips to Austin as often as we can.

During the summers I like to tap into my adventurous spirit and travel. It is my hope to inspire my students to travel and see what the world has to offer. I love telling my students about the things I've done and the places I've been. From diving a marine sanctuary in the Florida Keys, to Ziplining through mountains in Costa Rica, to climbing Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii. Since I started grad school, summer traveling has been cut back quite a bit. The next trip on my list is Belize, so hopefully that will happen after things calm down!

I believe that all children are capable of success if given the right tools. As a teacher I consider it my job to provide my students with the tools to achieve their goals, whatever those goals may be. More than anything, know that I am here to assist you and your student in anyway that I can. Please feel free to contact me via email, classroom phone, Remind, or schedule a conference if you have any questions or concerns.

We are all on the same team with the same goal: seeing your child succeed!
