This is my first year to teach at San Augustine High School and I am thrilled to be here! I teach 8th Grade U.S. History, Pre- AP World Geography, AP World History, Grade Level World History, and U.S. History 1877- Present.
I am originally from Austin, Texas where I graduated from Austin High School. After 18 years I grew tired of the traffic and was ready to get away, so I chose to attend college at Stephen F. Austin State University. I graduated from SFASU with a BA in Liberal Studies and Multidisciplinary Programs. It is through my many hours of volunteer work in college that I discovered my desire to work with kids. I consider myself truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to do this at San Augustine High School.
Outside of school I enjoy watching college football, baseball and softball. I come from a family of coaches and played softball for 13 years myself, so I have a very competitive nature. Although I graduated from SFA, there is a part of me that will always be a Longhorn at heart. On the weekends I can be found somewhere outside with my dog, Sadie. I do not have any children of my own, so she is my child. We frequent the trails of Nacogdoches and recently conquered our first camping trip.
During the summers I like to tap into my adventurous spirit and travel. I love telling my students about all of the things I've done and the places I've been. From diving a marine sanctuary in the Florida Keys, to Ziplining through mountains in Costa Rica, to climbing Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii... it all can be tied back into the classroom. More than that, it makes the content come alive to my students. It is my hope that I can inspire my students to travel and see what the world has to offer.
I believe that all children are capable of success if given the right tools. As a teacher I consider it my job to provide my students with the tools to achieve their goals, whatever those goals may be. More than anything, know that I am here to assist you and your student in anyway that I can. Please feel free to contact me via email, classroom phone, Remind, or schedule a conference if you have any questions or concerns.
We are all on the same team with the same goal: seeing your child succeed.
