SAISD - April Students of the Month

Elementary School:

The Pre-K Student of the Month for April is Lainey Clark. Lainey is a sweet little girl who has a smile that can light up a room. She likes to learn different things and her favorite thing is to play with her friends. Lainey the daughter of Cody and Johna Clark. Her teachers are Susie Hightower, Brenda Bolten, and Sandy Lewis. 

The Kindergarten Student of the Month for April is Kaleb Cartwright. Kaleb is always kind, quiet and is a good role model for others. His favorite thing to do at school is work. He wants to be a fireman when he grows up and after school he likes to pretend that he is putting out fires. Kaleb is the son of Tonisha Moore and SirMorgan Cartwright. His teacher is Mrs. Lisa Ainsworth.

The 1st grade Student of the Month for April is Mattilyn Page. Mattilyn is kind to her classmates, and is a hard worker and wants to learn about everything. She is such a delight to have in class. Mattilyn is the daughter of Tonya Bennefield Gandy. Her teacher is Mrs. Janna Williams.

The 2nd grade Student of the Month for April is LaKelsey Lacy.  LaKelsey demonstrates all the positive attributes of any age of students. She is willing to help out, willing to wait patiently, and she is honorable. LaKelsey’s favorite subject is Math, and in her spare time she enjoys drawing. She is a peacemaker through her positive behavior. LaKelsey is the daughter of LaKeysha Jones and she is in Mrs. Maureen Carlton’s class.

The 3rd grade Student of the Month for April is Kayden Schaeffer. Kayden puts forth a great effort in class. He has worked very hard this year. He has been trying his best and using his strategies in his work and his hard work is paying off! He is kind and polite to everyone, and always has a grin on his face. I am so happy and proud to have Kayden in my class! I look forward to watching him continue to grow for the rest of the year! Kayden is the son of Brittany and Jeremy Schaeffer. He is in Mrs. Heidi Pritchett’s homeroom, and his other teachers are VeShun Lacy and Susan McDaniel. 

The 4th grade Student of the Month for April is Prestin White. In alignment with this month’s value of “Peace”, Prestin is passionate about resolving issues between his classmates and making sure that everyone is understood. His favorite subject is math because he loves that his mom teaches different methods of how to solve problems. Outside of school he enjoys playing video games with his sister or doing outside challenges from her activity book. He aspires to be a chef when he grows up. Prestin is the son of Terra White. His teachers are Reva Davis, Jennifer Morton, and Terra White. 

The 5th grade Student of the Month for April is Lily Oglesby.  Lily is an awesome student, she does her work, she is quiet, she thinks on her own and solves the problem. Lily’s favorite subject is Art, and she wants to be a Veterinarian when she grows up. Lily is the daughter of Jonathan and Adrianna Oglesby. She is in Mrs. Melba Pahal’s homeroom and her other teachers are Linda Skadowski, Billie Jo Bellamy and Ashley Burks.

Middle School:

The 6th grade Student of the Month for April is Juan Silva-Palacios.  Juan is a responsible student who stays on task, listens and follows directions well. He always gives the best effort when it comes to his work. He is respectful to adults and is kind to his peers. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer. He says is favorite subject is science and his favorite teacher is Ms. Emma Spencer because she teaches him things about science he didn’t know. After graduating he would like to go to college at TSTC and would like to play professional soccer. Juan is the son of Maria Palacios and Manolo Silva.

The 7th grade Student of the Month for April is Jaylan Cortes. Jaylan is a very hard worker and strives to be her best in every class. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, dancing and listening to music. She has been involved in theater, dance and photography clubs. Her favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is Coach Ethan Perkins because he is someone she can talk to freely. After graduating Jaylan plans to attend college to become a psychiatrist. Jaylan is the daughter of Sandra Covarrubias and Jesus Cortes.

 

The 8th grade Student of the Month for April is Taylor Johnson. Taylor is always a pleasure to have in class. She is very respectful, kind, thoughtful, and intelligent. She is always willing to lend a hand in any way she can. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball. Her favorite subject is reading and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Merrideth Fussell because she always does a good job teaching. After graduating High School, she plans to go to college and obtain a degree in counseling. Taylor is the daughter of Latashia and Christoper Johnson.

High School:

The 9th grade Student of the Month for April is Destiny Cotten.  Destiny is a hard worker and always encourages her peers. She enjoys riding horses, playing sports, reading and spending time with her family in her free time. Destiny is a part of the Student council, interact club and 4-H. Her favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Mr. Marcus Porter because he never gives up on her and he always pushes her to do better even when she second guesses herself. After graduating Destiny plans to attend Texas A&M to become a veterinarian because she loves animals and would like to provide care for them in the future. Destiny is the daughter of Misty and Kendall Cotten.

The 10th grade Student of the Month for April is DeCoreyun Clifton. DeCoreyun has always put forth a great example of being an extraordinary student. His favorite course is math. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends or watching Netflix. DeCoreyun participates in football, track, interact club and is currently the Historian for his class. His favorite subject is math and his favorite teacher is Mr. Marcus Porter because he pushes him to do more even when he wants to give up. After graduating, Decoreyun plans to attend law school and obtain his Masters in Law then return to finish with a Juris Doctor degree to become a judge. DeCoreyun is the son of Shonta and Corey Clifton.

 

The 11th grade Student of the Month for April is Tyler Clardy. Tyler is a respectful young man who desires to do well without any complaints. His favorite class is Ag. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, welding and video games. He is involved in football and track. His favorite subject is ag and his favorite teacher is Mr. Jesse Harrison because he is fun and shows you how to do everything in the ag shop. After graduating Tyler plans to attend a trade school to learn to weld and become a welding inspector. Tyler is the son of John Clardy.

 

The 12th grade Student of the Month for April is Ardriah Mosby. Ardriah is an exceptional, well-rounded student. She is ranked #4 in her class and will have earned 33 college hours when she graduates in May. Ardriah serves as a positive role model for her fellow students. She is mature beyond her years and gives excellent advice to other students seeking guidance. She is active in Student Council, Interact Club, Cheer, Athletics, Senior Class Officer, and Yearbook. She has served a vital role in the yearbook program as the Business Manager making sure the yearbook raises enough funds to pay for the program. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Shelby McNamara because although she can be very pushy, you know that she genuinely cares about all of her students. After graduating she will be attending Texas Woman's University and majoring in social work, and minoring in business management. Ardriah is the daughter of Pastor Ardis and Jeaneyse Mosby.
