Our Town
The San Augustine Independent School District offices and schools are located in historical San Augustine, Texas. Our town is surrounded by beautiful lakes and national forests deep in the heart of East Texas. Known as the "Cradle of Texas", San Augustine was home to the first University in Texas, was the first American settlement in Texas and the home of Governor J. Pinckney Henderson who was the first governor of Texas.
Our town's beautiful setting, historical landmarks and community events attract many visitors to our neck of the woods throughout the year. Our schools provide students with a 21st century academic setting and opportunities to pursue career and collegiate choices following graduation.
