SAHS had a huge Homecoming success last week! All of our week's activities came to an end with a decisive victory over the Hemphill Hornets by a score of 58 to 6! This week the Wolves are off and will get back into football Friday, October 10, hosting West Sabine here. Congratulations, Wolves!!
Mr. Kyndle Hewitt and Ms. Jada White were crowned Homecoming King and Queen during pre-game festivities last week. They were both escorted by family members and crowned by Mr. Little. Congratulations, Kyndle and Jada!
Bandsman and Bandswoman of the week for September 22 - 26 were Brock Johnson and Morgan Ellison, both of whom are percussionists in the band. Brock is a Junior and is involved in several different clubs and organizations on campus, including Student Council, Interact, DECA and academic UIL. Brock is also a very active member of the Yearbook staff this year. He does all this while working at San Augustine Drug as a delivery driver. Morgan, too, is very active at SAHS. She is an Elite and a member of Student Council and FFA. Morgan is very hard working, coming into the band program last year with no experience at all. She has definitely risen to become a very solid marcher and bass drum player. They are both respected as leaders in the San Augustine Wolf Pack Band. Congratulations and job well done, Brock and Morgan!
Students -- get involved with academic UIL! Middle School competition will take place in Broaddus this year on December 9th and 11th, so now is the perfect time to sign up. Mrs. Mary Whittlesey is the UIL coordinator for the Middle School and Guy "Doc" Harrison handles UIL for the High School. Check with them to sign up for your favorite event - each of them will direct you to the coach for your particular event. This is a great way to support and be an active part of your school campus.
Mr. Aurelio Iglesias reports the following from his Spanish classes: "Students are continuing to practice numbers as they apply to telling time in Spanish. There are just a few rules to be followed - for example, when you are referring to AM or PM. When students start mastering telling time in Spanish, they will increase their level of confidence to start speaking a little bit in another language. This furthers the foundations needed to go to the next step in their learning. A language learning process takes time and, of course, a good effort on the part of the student. One can achieve it if he/she is really committed to learning it and practicing. Please remember: if you are interested in learning Spanish one of my first recommendations is to purchase a good Spanish/English Dictionary - English/Spanish and start translating vocabulary that you can find on any grocery store advertisement. Muchas Gracias!"
