Elementary School:
The Pre-K Student of the Month for December is Layne Pitts. Layne is the son of Mark and Angie Pitts. His teacher, Mrs. Stripling, is so impressed with Layne’s character and work ethic. She says Layne is a quiet, observant Little Person. She has noticed how he puts things back in their proper places without being told to do so or shown where they go. While most 3 year olds are still in the “Mine! Mine! Stage, Layne is always willing to share and help others." He is an excellent student and can already spell his name, count to 29, recognize 25 of 26 uppercase letters and, Mrs. Stripling reports with great pride, he can say the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.
The Kindergarten Student of the Month for December is Riley Jackson. Riley is the daughter of Ashley Jackson. Her teacher, Mrs. Parker, says Riley is an excellent student and a good example for the other kindergartners. She is a hard worker, listens in class, and shows respect to her peers and teachers. She is very generous with her hugs for her teacher and is always quick to say Thank You to others. She is a delight to have in class.
The 1st grade Student of the Month for December is Isaiah Hill. Isaiah is the son of Countessa Hill and Alton Greer. Mrs. Cartwright chose Isaiah because of his generosity and unselfish actions in the classroom. He is kind to others and helpful to his classmates and teachers. She can count on him to do his best in all situations. She is very pleased to be his teacher.
The 2nd grade Student of the Month for December is Jadavien Whitaker. Jadavien is the son of Nefretiri Williams. His teachers say that he is a very smart student who makes positive contributions to class discussions. He likes reading books from Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. His favorite subjects are math and science. He enjoys playing football and wants to play for the Wolves in high school. When he grows up he wants to be a truck driver, to travel and see new places.
The 3rd grade Student of the Month for December is Leticia Abighail Gervacio. Leticia is the daughter of Francisco Gervacio and Griselda Palacios. She has a brother, Jesus, in PK. Laticia was voted by her Mrs. Garrett’s class to represent third grade. She is smart, beautiful, and a caring role model for others. She has been working hard to prepare for UIL Storytelling, where she placed 6th in the competition this year. Math is her favorite subject, but she is also a good reader. When she grows up, Laticia wants to live in Mexico and become a famous singer.
The 4th grade Student of the Month for December is JaMya Polk. JaMya is the daughter of Demarcus and Jessica Davis. Her teachers have noted that she has a charitable nature and is consistently a good influence on her peers at school. JaMya’s big heart is often seen when she reaches out to others with a hug or a kind word to show she cares when they are having a bad day. She is quick to share with others and is a friend to everyone.
The 5th grade Student of the Month for December is Olivia Lara. Olivia is the daughter of Mauricio and Kayla Lara. Olivia is being recognized because she is always positive, attentive, and motivated to perform her best, regardless of the circumstances. She is an example of a model student. Her second grade brother, Matthew has also been selected as a student of the month this year, so these outstanding qualities run in the family. Olivia enjoys math and is planning a career as a meteorologist or a CPA after getting her degree at Stephen F. Austin. Olivia says that Christmas is her favorite time of year because it is a time of true happiness for her family.

Middle School:
The 6th grade Student of the Month for December is Diego Prado. Diego is the son of Alex and Santiago Prado. His favorite subject is Math and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Sheeta Gaspard. Diego is involved in band. He plans to become a doctor when he finishes high school so that he can help others.
The 7th grade Student of the Month for December is Carlos Acosta. Carlos is the son of Rene and Patty Acosta. His favorite subject is Math and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Sheeta Gaspard. He is involved in band and football. Carlos plans to join the military when he finishes high school. He is considering the Army or Navy.
The 8th grade Student of the Month for December is Abraham Palacios. Abraham is the son of Enrique and Maria Palacios. His favorite subject is Science and his favorite teacher is Mr. Rod McLerran. He is involved in athletics and enjoys playing football. Abraham plans to join the Navy when he finishes high school.

High School:
The 9th grade Student of the Month for December is MaErika Josue. MaErika is the daughter of Jay & Shirley Josue. Her favorite subjects are Math and Science. She is involved in Band, Twirling, Ladies League, Student Council and UIL. MaErika plans to become a nurse practitioner after she finishes high school.
The 10th grade Student of the Month for December is Quentyvian Borders. Quentyvian is the son of Edward Borders and the late Sharonda Crockett. His favorite subject is Math. He is involved in Athletics, Student Council, UIL and the Gentlemen's League. Quentyvian plans to attend a D-1 college on an athletic scholarship and do what he loves most, play football.
The 11th grade Student of the Month for December is Hannah Nguyen. Hannah is the daughter of Kim Linh. Her favorite subjects are Math and Reading. She is involved in Interact Club, Student Council, Band, Twirling, Ladies League, UIL and is also a member of the National Honor Society. Hannah is undecided about what she plans to do after finishing high school.
The 12th grade Student of the Month for December is Zachary Harper. Zachary is the son of the late Alice Bluford. His favorite subject is History. He enjoys hunting and fishing when he has time. Zachary plans to go to college when he finishes high school so that he will be able to get a good job.
