Principal Shelly Starr

Hello everyone!  It is so inspiring to become a part of the SAISD family.  My name is Shelly Starr and I am honored to serve as the Principal of San Augustine High School for the 2023-2024 school year. I want to welcome you to our campus and am ready to work with the excellent staff and students to achieve great things.  

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and earned my Master’s Degree from University of North Texas.  Most recently I completed my Educational Leadership program through Lamar University.  I began my career in education teaching mainly U.S. History and Government to 11th and 12 graders for twelve years.  I then became the District Librarian and served in that capacity for 13 years. 

I have two children, Abby is 19 and Jay will be a sophomore in high school.  We enjoy making new memories by traveling to new places and spending time with our family and friends.  

As I become a member of the Wolf Pack, I am excited to build relationships with the community, parents, students, and the staff.  San Augustine High School wants to encourage our parents and community to partner with us to encourage our students to become the best version of themselves.  My priorities are student success, safety, and helping each student become outstanding citizens of this community.  Our new motto for 2023-2024 is SAN AUGUSTINE WOLVES MAKE IT HAPPEN!
